Care3 Selected as a Finalist in 20th Innovations in Healthcare ABBY Awards
(Los Angeles, CA) – Care3™ (www.care3.co), the world’s first team collaboration platform for healthcare delivered in the home and community, has been selected as a finalist in the 20th Innovations in Healthcare ABBY Awards. The final competition will be held in San Francisco, CA on December 12.
“Care3 uses text, media, and data to create a full digital picture of care delivered outside of health facilities,” said David S. Williams, CEO of Care3, who will present at the awards event. “Care3 has been proven to reduce falls leading to emergency visits and hospitalizations, saving hundreds of thousands of dollars each month for senior care programs.”
Care3 currently serves the senior care community through partnerships with risk-bearing health entities including Programs of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) for collaboration on care in the home and community. The company is also exploring partnerships with health insurers looking for innovation to reduce costs and increase patient and family engagement.
The event will be hosted by the Adaptive Business Leaders (ABL) Organization, whose first awards event was held in 1999, and since then has recognized over 60 innovative organizations whose approaches and technologies are making dramatic inroads in the quest to improve the quality of care and health outcomes – while reducing its cost. And this year, more than any other before, many of these innovations are blending technology with the human touch provided by providers, caregivers, and even family members and friends.
Past ABBY Award Winners: Previous ABBY Award Winners include numerous companies that have made breakthroughs and transformative advances in medical devices, diagnostics, therapeutics, information technology, and electronic solutions, as well as organizations that have applied innovative systems and technology to providing care and coverage, decreasing the numbers of uninsured, and engaging healthcare consumers more actively in their care and health status - all with a view to reducing the cost of quality care.

(Los Angeles, CA and Boston, MA) – June 12, 2018 – MitoAction (www.mitoaction.org), a leading patient advocacy organization within the mitochondrial disease community and Care3™ (www.care3.co), the world’s first team collaboration platform for healthcare delivered in the home and community, announce a global innovation partnership focused on advancing the knowledge of and care delivery for mitochondrial disease. This partnership aims to provide a unique platform to help families manage the complexities of day-to-day care, as well as facilitate enhanced communication with their personal and clinical care teams. The partnership goals include capturing critical information to help researchers and clinicians learn more about this rare disease to aid in the development of therapies, and ultimately a cure for mitochondrial disease.
“The platform that has resulted from this partnership will not only help families to manage their daily journey with mitochondrial disease, but will also improve communication with their care team and allow clinicians and researchers to gain a better understanding of the disease.” said Kira Mann, CEO of MitoAction. “We believe this platform is the first step in transforming the management and delivery of care, not only for those affected by mitochondrial disease, but the entire rare disease community. We are incredibly proud of our new partnership with Care3 and believe this type of collaborative innovation allows us to push the envelope on what is possible in utilizing technology with rare disease care. “
Care3 currently serves the senior care and special needs communities with digital data and collaboration tools for care in the home.
“In addition to senior care, Care3 can shine a light on the challenges faced by patients and families affected by mitochondrial disease and the correlations that exist between diagnosis, symptoms, treatment plan execution and quality of life,” adds David S. Williams, Co-Founder & CEO of Care3. “It’s our mission to bring healthcare equality to everyone and mitochondrial disease hasn’t received the innovation attention it deserves.”
MitoAction and Care3 plan to launch the joint platform in Summer of 2018 as the first phase in the multi-phase partnership. For more information, visit www.mitoaction.org/care3 and www.care3.co/mitoaction.

Care3™ launches Starter Care Plan feature to help caregivers get into their groove
(Los Angeles, CA) - July 6, 2016 - Care3™, a leading developer of mobile health technology, has launched a new feature called Starter Care Plan for all iPhone and iPad app users. Successful caregiving depends on having the goals set and the tasks laid in a routine that families can follow every single day. Starter Care Plan offers a set of the most common care tasks that family caregivers face when caring for a loved one, thus helping to integrate the tasks into a new caregiving routine. “At Care3, we call this routine your ‘groove.’ Getting into your caregiving groove means you’ve integrated caregiving into your personal and professional life. When you’re in the groove, you’re efficient, effective, and your stress level is manageable.” explains David Williams, Care3 Co-Founder and CEO.
Starter Care Plan is designed to get family caregivers into their caregiving groove as quickly as possible. Users first create their Care Team and then are prompted to create the Starter Care Plan. This creates daily and weekly Actions that families share so that no one has to complete all of the care tasks alone, avoiding high stress, missed days of work, and burnout.
Family caregivers can also send Care3 discharge instructions to make them mobile for a nominal fee. Caregivers simply email their paper discharge plans after downloading the FREE mobile app and signing up.

(Los Angeles, CA) – May 9, 2016 – Care3™, a leading developer of mobile health technology, is proud to announce the launch of the new iPad version of its flagship care-sharing app. Care3 built the iPad app to be used by family caregivers and professional home care aides when a greater number of tasks are being shared in a conversation.
"We built the iPad app for people who need a little more to appear on a screen at point-of-care. Independent home care providers and care managers have been the most vocal about having an iPad version and we're happy to accommodate as they do God's work caring for our loved ones," says David Williams, co-founder and CEO of Care3.
Subtle user interface differences between the iPhone version and the iPad version highlight greater visibility of actions for care-sharing for those with higher amounts of actions to complete. Care3 works with any wifi-enabled system so doesn't require a cellular phone connection to be used.

Care3™ Raises $500K to Make All Care Instructions Mobile for Patients and Family Caregivers
(Los Angeles, CA) - April 26, 2016 - Care3™, a leading developer of mobile health technology, has raised $500,000 from a blue chip collection of angel investors to mobilize paper care instructions including those provided at hospital discharge. Care instructions today are typically paper-based, full of clinical jargon and shared only with patients and not family caregivers. These factors make care instructions difficult to maintain, follow, and implement successfully leading to costly hospital readmissions." Our founding team and investors have been through the situation of caring for someone discharged from the hospital,” explains Care3 Co-Founder and CEO David Williams, “Distributing these critical care instructions via paper is simply unacceptable in 2016."
Care3™ plans to work with hospitals, health insurers, and other health entities to digitize and mobilize their care instructions while also making them more consumer friendly. Care3 will deliver each task step-by-step over their HIPAA-compliant care-sharing mobile app.
"I invested in Care3 because the founding team has both personal experience caring for loved ones and decades of highly relevant healthcare industry experience." explains Jabari Reeves, MD, MBA, a San Francisco-based emergency medicine physician.
Family caregivers can also send Care3 their discharge or other paper-based care instructions to make them mobile for FREE for a limited time. Caregivers simply email their paper discharge plans after signing up for the service.
