Care3 CEO David S. Williams III Gives Keynote at International Metabolic Conference Focused on FAOD
Care3 CEO David S. Williams III delivered a keynote at the International Metabolic Conference focused on #FAOD. Our partner MitoAction and CEO Kira Mann assembled a world-class lineup of thought leader speakers and engaging activities to help families dealing with this challenging condition.
Within the keynote, Mr. Williams delivered a message of hope. Using personal health information (PHI) like that collected in the MyMito app powered by Care3, has helped millions of people with rare conditions get better care and treatment. As an example of this method, he referenced is mother’s incredible real-life journey with cancer.
His mother was told she had six months to live by numerous doctors after a liver cancer diagnosis. Not only did she survive the six months, but she lived 27 more YEARS.
From the IMC Conference website:
“In partnership with Dr. Jerry Vockley and INFORM, MitoAction will assemble leading experts to present to families, caregivers, family members and clinicians. The focus of the International Metabolic Conference is for families to learn more about disease management, current clinical trials, nutrition and the social needs of caring for those with a rare metabolic disorder. This is a great opportunity for families to meet one another in person, spend some time networking and have the opportunity to interact with professionals who specialize in metabolic disorders.
We will hear from a variety speakers: medical professionals, dietitians, social workers, advocates and genetic counselors.
Everyone in your entire family will have a meaningful way to connect, engage and learn!”
We at Care3 are proud to be the official digital partner of MitoAction serving thousands of families worldwide with mitochondrial disease and FAOD.
UDW Partners with Care3 Digital Health Equity Solution for Member Caregivers
UDW Members Get Fully Personalized Care3 Mobile App to Manage Caregiving Activities for People with Neurodiverse Conditions and Seniors
For the first time, UDW will have the ability to measure the volume of work delivered by its Members while also quantifying unpaid work.
Riverside, CA and Los Angeles, CA, May 22, 2023 – United Domestic Workers of America (UDW/AFSCME 3930), a union representing 165,000 home care and family child care providers throughout California, announced today a new collaboration with leading digital health equity platform company, Care3, to empower its members to use digital tools to manage the daily complexities and challenges of home-based care for seniors, neurodiverse (autism, ADHD, epilepsy, and more), and other people living with challenges. As part of this new program, Care3 will fully personalize its mobile app experience for the caregiving needs of each individual UDW Member and their clients.
Care3 is the world’s first digital health equity platform company. Founded by caregivers parents of children with autism, and senior caregivers for people with dementia, COPD, CHF, cancers, and more, Care3 organizes care including appointments, activities of daily living, medications, and more, no matter what conditions, to help caregivers stay on track. Because clinical data rarely includes data from people of color, Care3 helps create more equitable care by creating data from real world health experiences, thus reducing bias in social and medical decision-making.
“Through this important collaboration, UDW and Care3 will finally have the data to substantiate and quantify our long-known claim that caregivers provide significant unpaid care even with the current IHSS paid care structure,” said Doug Moore, Executive Director of UDW. “Home care providers should get paid for all of the work they do because it not only positively impacts the quality of life of the client, but also reduces costs for the state healthcare system.”
“Our partnership promotes health equity at scale for people typically ignored by the innovation technology ecosystem.” Care3 CEO and Founder David S. Williams III adds. “By improving digital health literacy and unleashing the power of real world data for families with challenging healthcare needs, UDW and Care3 will empower more than 100,000 families in California to make better health decisions, improve interactions with their providers, all while reducing health inequities.”

Care3 CEO David Williams Moderates National Panel on Health Equity for Leading Think Tank
Health inequity costs $362 billion in excess medical costs and lost productivity each year. Private industry, nonprofits, and government agencies must all come together to minimize these disparities for better public health and long term economic viability in the US. The Aspen Institute, its Fellowship programs, and Care3 are leading a movement from towards health equity from all sectors of the healthcare system.
OCTOBER 13, 2022. Care3 CEO and Founder David S. Williams III moderated a virtual meeting of two dozen healthcare innovative leaders from across the country to discuss health equity, health data, and the future of the healthcare industry.
The Aspen Institute, a leading nonpartisan think tank, coordinated the session through their Health Innovators’ Fellowship and Henry Crown Fellowship programs (David is a Henry Crown Fellow).
The group defined what health equity means in their organizations and how they are taking the lead in tackling these disparities. From hospital systems, to health plans, care programs, health advocacy organizations, and digital health startups all see a path to drive equitable care.
The next area for discussion was what role health data could play at scale to drive health equity. The first focus was on Covid-19 vaccinations and the data that exposed healthcare’s “dirty little secret”—that there were racial disparities in healthcare as evidenced by vaccination access for people of color. At scale, that data pinpointed where vaccine deserts caused higher mortality rates over time. The group agreed that data aggregated from multiple domains of measurement, including and beyond, vaccine access can drive better healthcare distribution and improve outcomes. The issue is resolve at the policy level—and this group of leaders vowed to use their influence to deliver more equitable results.

Care3 CEO David S. Williams III Speaks at Health Equity Roundtable
One of the areas most underserved by the healthcare system for people of color is mental health. Between the stigma against seeking mental health care among communities of color and the inequities of access and outcomes in the healthcare system, it’s no wonder people of color have poorer mental health outcomes than the general population. Care3 is committed to solving this monumental challenge.
Care3 Founder & CEO, David S. Williams III, recently spoke on an invite-only virtual roundtable focused on health equity led by Veriteos. Veriteos is a leading company committed to development of a nationwide network of digital health companies and healthcare enterprises sharing real-world data as a pathway to achieve health equity.
Luminaries hailing from leading companies including Radical Health, MiSalud, Meru Health, Wise Therapeutics, Louisiana Public Health Institute, and more also attended the roundtable. Mr. Williams discussed his personal and experiences with health inequities while outlining solutions that include the Treat Us Right Podcast (reaching over 20,000 subscribers) and the Care3 platform helping thousands of families leverage health and social determinants data to reduce bias in treatment decisions.
Health inequity costs $135 billion in excess medical costs and lost productivity each year. Private industry, nonprofits, and government agencies must all come together to minimize these disparities for better public health and long term economic viability in the US. Care3 and Veriteos are leading the way.

Care3 and Grapevine Health Hold Mini-Summit on Health Equity in Aspen
Each summer the Aspen Institute convenes its annual Resnick Aspen Action Forum. Attending the forum are Fellows of the Aspen Global Leadership Network who seek to bring values-based leadership to industries such as healthcare, finance, education, and more worldwide.
During this year’s Action Forum, Care3 CEO David S. Williams III and Grapevine Health Founder & CEO Lisa Fitzpatrick, MD met to discuss health equity and their personal and professional approaches to solving disparities in healthcare.
Lisa Fitzpatrick, MD - CEO & Founder, Grapevine Health
Dr. Fitzpatrick sees the foundational aspect of health literacy to be a fast-track to closing the gap in health for underserved groups. By delivering culturally-competent, medically accurate, health information from people who look like their consumers, trust is engendered in the patient-doctor relationship. That trust serves as the foundation of changing the course of health behaviors and interactions with the healthcare industry. She founded Grapevine Health to meet this challenge head on.
David S. Williams, MBA - CEO & Founder, Care3
Mr. Williams agrees and sees another path to changing bias in healthcare: personal data. The leading sources of information in treatment decision-making each have biases that perpetuate health disparities. People of color do not participate in clinical trials, thus biasing medical evidence. Clinical decision support systems base eligibility decisions for life-changing disease management programs based on healthcare spending rather than acuity of need or level of sickness. Since people of color have lower access to healthcare services, these systems have inherent bias. To combat these biases, Mr. Williams believes people of color and other underserved groups must use their own personal health information (PHI) as the leading data source for their care team. If care providers have robust PHI, they can quite literally personalize their treatment decisions for each patient based on that person’s experience, not biased data sources. Doctors are excellent when they have data, so providing a way for people to present their own health experiences to practitioners is another foundational way to reduce health disparities and improve health behaviors. Mr. Williams has built Care3 to address this need.
Both Dr. Fitzpatrick and Mr. Williams agree that it’s time the healthcare industry moves past “health equity” as a buzzword to drive headlines and PR spots to adopting real solutions that create lasting improvements to healthcare delivery for those who most need it. Now is the time for organizations to invest in solutions. Contact Care3 and Grapevine Health for more information.
