Care3 Launches New In-app Tutorials!

The Care3 mobile app has been live for a little over two years. With thousands of people like you providing feedback, we’ve learned a few things. The first lesson we learned, however, is that we were not as good as we thought we were. What does that mean? It means we thought Care3 was SO easy for users to get, that you would be able to just pick it up with minimum instruction and get maximum benefit. In hindsight, that seems ridiculous, but we really did intend Care3 to be simple. Our newest improvements are built specifically to teach you how to use Care3 as you go along. This way, you can get incremental benefit each time you interact with a new feature. 

Our tutorial overlays are more integrated with the app experience and explain key features and activities that provide high value experiences. We call the tutorials “overlays” because the tutorial appear “over” the screen you’re on to let you know what you’re looking at and what things you can do.

For example, the app has always had an overlay on the home Conversations screen that you see when you first reach the page after registering.


This premier overlay shows you how to navigate the app and how to perform the main functions including editing your Profile, starting a Care Team, initiating a new Conversation,  or viewing your accepted Actions.







Here are some of the NEW tutorial overlays. Definitely check them out as you experience Care3!



One of the first things you may have to do in Care3 is join a Care Team. Your doctor or other health professional from a care program like PACE may invite you.

Joining a Care Team is easy. When you receive an invite popup, the overlay shows you how to join—by tapping the "accept" button in the dialog box. This is important because Care Teams are special conversations that include professional care providers, you, and other family members.



This tutorial shows you where to add an Action Message and add Media to any message.

Action Messages are how you ask others to complete a task for you when you can’t do it yourself. Need someone to give Mom a ride to the doctor? Send an Action!

Adding media like Photos, Video, or Audio is easy. Simply tap the “paper clip” icon and choose which type of media you want to add. Follow the prompts. Simple.




The first time you accept an Action Message in your conversation, an overlay appears to let you know how to view the details.

Most importantly,  the overlay instructs you to tap the “done” button when you complete the task.






This is THE MOST IMPORTANT tutorial overlay. It occurs the first time you tap on an Accepted Action from your My Actions Calendar . It shows you where to find the “done” button.

Tapping this button after completing the task notifies the entire Care Team that it’s done. You should always let your Care Team know when you’ve completed an Action.
